Hornbjarg is the larger and more extreme shaped of the two cliffs and boasts of an unrivalled “edge of the world” experience. Going on the Hornbjarg Cliffs Hiking Tour is therefore an unforgettable experience.
The Hornstrandir Nature Reserve and Hornbjarg are only accessible by boat (or foot) and the 2.5-3 hour one-way boat ride is filled with spectacular views of the dramatic cliffs and coastline.
Please note that about 4-6 hours on this tour are spent hiking in Hornvík, and the other 4-6 hours transferring by a passenger ferry between Hornvík and Ísafjörður.
The trail requires at least basic hiking experience and average fitness.
On a windy day the boat ride can be bumpy. Exact return time back to Ísafjörður is always uncertain but normally the tour duration does not exceed 12 hours.
It is crucial that you either bring self-arranged food or book the lunchpack, and wear proper hiking shoes and warm hiking appropriate wear. Hornvík is open to Arctic winds and there is no temporary shelter available, and it is not possible to buy food anywhere on the tour.
We reserve the right to deny boarding to insufficiently prepared participants, whether without food or without proper clothing, for safety reasons.
