
The campsite at Grettislaug in Reykhólar village is surrounded by beautiful nature and a unique view of Breiðafjörður bay. The area is a paradise for birdwatchers from all over the world. The campsite is within walking distance of a bird watching hut at Lake Langavatn. Chances are you will see white tailed eagles there. Attractions in the area include hiking trails, sailing, the seaweed baths, and an exhibition of old boats and the gifts of nature. The only seaweed factory in the country is situated at Reykhólar, and is an environmentally friendly plant powered by geothermal energy, which is abundant in this area. There is something for everyone here and the beautiful nature welcomes you to Reykhólahreppur district. Every summer a festival called Reykhóladagar or
“Reykhólar Days” is held in the village.
