The Kleifar-Mörk campsite is located 2.5 kilometers outside the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. A beautiful waterfall is close by and when the sun shines, it warms the water, making it an ideal natural swimming pool. At the site there are toilets, running water, tables and benches, as well as a soccer pitch. All other services are available in the village, including a grocery store, a restaurant and a swimming pool. Many marked hiking trails can be found in the area, leading to interesting sights. One of many sites of interest in the area is Systrastapi, or “sisters’ mesa”. Legend says
that this is the burial ground of two nuns who had been sentenced to burn at the stake for violating moral rules.
